Discover the Oak Hill Montessori Difference
Each level of programming offers an environment designed to meet the needs of the child at each stage of his/her development. Stimulating activities, materials and areas of study encourage the child’s innate joy of learning. Teachers work with children as individuals providing a high degree of individualized education. At the same time, children are a part of a thriving social community founded on respect for self, for others and the world around them.
Oak Hill Montessori's classrooms are mixed age communities that provide a number of advantages not found in traditional school systems. Children work with others who are older and younger. The older children serve as role models and in the process gain confidence in their abilities and self-esteem. Younger students gain a clear vision of what is expected of them. In our Pre-School and Elementary Programs, students are enrolled for three year cycles. The Toddler Community span one to two years.
Oak Hill Montessori’s programs are modeled after the philosophy and pedagogy of Dr. Maria Montessori. As an educator, physician, social worker and scientist, she observed children at various ages and stages of development. Her work with children led to specific environments and materials that cultivate the child's own desire to learn.
